Meet Mo Sliger

Owner of Sliger Bookkeeping. U.S. Navy veteran. Intuit Advanced ProAdvisor. Nearly thirty years in restaurants before he ever kept a set of books for a living.

Thirty years of reading the numbers that decide the week

I am Mo, the owner of Sliger Bookkeeping. Before this I spent nearly thirty years in the restaurant industry, most of it on the management side, and I served in the U.S. Navy from 1991 to 1995. Two worlds where organisation, timing and attention to detail were not optional.

Both of them taught me the same thing: success comes down to preparation. Whether it is a busy shift, a military operation or a business trying to make payroll, having accurate information and dependable systems is what separates a decision from a guess.

Why bookkeeping

I have always had a knack for numbers, and I had been living inside profit and loss statements and balance sheets for most of my working life. When my situation changed and I needed to step back from restaurant management, bookkeeping was not a leap — it was the part of the job I had always been best at, without the fourteen-hour shifts.

I learned the work through QuickBooks, all the way through the Enterprise suite and payroll, and earned my Intuit Advanced ProAdvisor certification along with QuickBooks Online Level 2, QuickBooks Workforce and Intuit Enterprise Suite. Since then I have moved a lot of my client work onto Xero, because I think the platform is better for how most small businesses actually operate. I still run both, which means when I recommend one it is because it fits your business, not because it is the only one I know.

How I work

I answer my own phone and I reply to my own email. There is no account manager, no queue and no ticket number. If you call and I am with a client, you hear back the same day.

I do not lock people into contracts, I do not send surprise invoices, and I will tell you when you do not need something. Business owners should be spending their time serving customers and leading their teams — not sorting receipts at the end of a long day.

“I prepare business owners with the tools they need for success. Let me keep you prepared.”
