Thirty years of reading the numbers that decide the week

I am Mo, the owner of Sliger Bookkeeping. Before this I spent nearly thirty years in the restaurant industry, most of it on the management side, and I served in the U.S. Navy from 1991 to 1995. Two worlds where organisation, timing and attention to detail were not optional.

Both of them taught me the same thing: success comes down to preparation. Whether it is a busy shift, a military operation or a business trying to make payroll, having accurate information and dependable systems is what separates a decision from a guess.

Why bookkeeping

I have always had a knack for numbers, and I had been living inside profit and loss statements and balance sheets for most of my working life. When my situation changed and I needed to step back from restaurant management, bookkeeping was not a leap — it was the part of the job I had always been best at, without the fourteen-hour shifts.

I learned the work through QuickBooks, all the way through the Enterprise suite and payroll, and I maintain training and certifications across the accounting platforms used in my practice. I work in both QuickBooks Online and Xero. Each platform has strengths, and my recommendation is based on the client’s workflow, reporting needs and budget — not simply on the software I know best.

How I work

I answer my own phone and I reply to my own email. There is no account manager, no queue and no ticket number. If I cannot answer immediately, I aim to respond the same business day.

I do not believe in locking clients into an arrangement that no longer fits. Every engagement includes a scheduled review point — typically at three, six or twelve months, depending on the service — so we can confirm that the scope, price and relationship still make sense.

I use clear engagement terms, straightforward pricing and honest recommendations. You will understand the work and cost before we begin, and I will tell you when you do not need something. Business owners should be spending their time serving customers and leading their teams — not sorting receipts at the end of a long day.

Beyond the books

Sliger Bookkeeping serves clients across Cabot, Little Rock, North Little Rock, Conway, Searcy and Lonoke County, and works remotely with businesses well outside Arkansas. I am also a commissioned Arkansas notary.
